This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. gimmebook is operated by Tiny Worlds, LLC. By using gimmebook, you agree to the practices described here. This policy covers everyone who uses gimmebook: authors selling books, customers buying them, and visitors browsing. Most of it applies to everyone; where something applies only to authors or only to customers, it says so. 1. WHAT WE COLLECT From authors: Account information. When you register as an author, we collect your name, email address, and the details you choose to publish on your store page (bio, avatar, social links). Uploaded content. Books and cover art you upload are stored so we can deliver them to paying customers. Sales and payout information. We keep records of your sales, and our payment processor shares with us the identifiers and status of your payout account so we can route your earnings. Your banking details and the identity documents used to establish your payment account stay with the processor; we never see them. From customers: Purchase information. When you buy a book, we collect your email address and a record of the purchase. Payment happens on Stripe's checkout pages. Stripe collects your card and billing details there; we never receive or store your card details. From everyone: Waitlist signups. If you join a waitlist, either for an author invite or to hear when we sell in your country, we collect the email address you give us and use it only for that update. Support messages. If you contact support, we keep your message and our response so we can help you and have a record of the conversation. Technical information. Our servers receive your IP address and browser information with each request. We use them to keep the service secure (for example, limiting repeated requests), to work out your country, and to build the anonymous visitor statistic described below. When you give marketing consent, we record the IP address and browser it came from as proof of that consent. Usage and analytics. We collect basic analytics (page views, referrer, country, device class, and a daily-salted anonymous visitor hash) to understand how the platform is used and to detect abuse. The visitor hash changes every day and cannot be linked across days, so it cannot follow you over time. 2. COOKIES We use essential cookies only, and only authors get them: signing in to an author account sets cookies that keep you signed in, and they are required for the service to work and do not track you. Readers never sign in, so buying and reading set no gimmebook cookies. We set no advertising or tracking cookies and use no third-party analytics scripts. Preferences such as dark mode are stored in your own browser and are not sent to us. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages, covered by Stripe's privacy policy. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal; we do not track anyone across other sites, so there is nothing for that signal to change. 3. HOW WE USE IT We use the information above to: - Operate the platform and deliver purchased content. - Send transactional emails (order confirmations, download links, password resets, platform notifications). - For customers who opt in at checkout, share their email address with that author for the author's mailing list. Consent for gimmebook's own list and for an author's list are separate, and each can be withdrawn independently. - Provide customer and author support. - Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations. - Comply with applicable law. We do not sell your personal information. 4. DATA RETENTION Payment information is held by Stripe under its terms and applicable law. We never receive or store your card details. Email addresses are retained for order history and support purposes. Uploaded content is retained while the author's account is active; after closure it is kept only as long as needed to deliver to customers who already bought it, handle refunds and disputes, and meet legal record requirements. Analytics data is kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Anonymous daily totals, which cannot identify anyone, are kept after that. Support messages are retained so we have a record of past conversations. If your data is deleted at your request, personal information in them is removed. 5. YOUR CHOICES We comply with applicable data protection laws. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU or UK, or a U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Authors can request account deletion directly from their account settings; the deletion runs automatically after a grace period during which it can be cancelled. Customers can request deletion, or a copy of their data, by contacting support; once a request is confirmed, the deletion itself runs automatically. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time: every marketing email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and contacting support works too. 6. WHERE WE SELL AND WHERE DATA IS PROCESSED gimmebook does not sell in every country yet; checkout decides whether a purchase can go through. If we do not serve your country yet, you can join the waitlist and we will email you when we do. gimmebook is operated from the United States and your information is processed there. If you use gimmebook from another country, your information is transferred to the United States. 7. CHILDREN gimmebook is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support. 8. CHANGES We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on gimmebook, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. Continued use of gimmebook after the update constitutes acceptance. 9.
