This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using gimmebook, you agree to the practices described here.
1. WHAT WE COLLECT
Account information. When authors register, we collect your name, email address, and the details you choose to publish on your store page (bio, avatar, social links).
Purchase information. When a customer buys a book, we collect the email address, billing address (as required by our payment processor), and a record of the purchase.
Uploaded content. Books and cover art you upload are stored so we can deliver them to paying customers.
Support messages. If you contact support, we retain your message and our response so we can help you and keep a record of the conversation.
Usage and analytics. We collect basic analytics (page views, referrer, country, device class, and a daily-salted anonymous visitor hash) to understand how the platform is being used and to detect abuse. We do not set persistent tracking cookies.
2. HOW WE USE IT
We use the information above to:
- Operate the platform and deliver purchased content.
- Send transactional emails (order confirmations, download links, password resets, platform notifications).
— Authors are provided with name, email addresses and purchase history for marketing purposes. Authors cannot send direct email or messages through gimmebook.
- Provide customer and author support.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
- Comply with applicable law.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. DATA RETENTION
Payment information is held by our payment processor in accordance with their terms and applicable law. We do not store full card numbers ourselves.
Email addresses are retained for order history and support purposes.
Uploaded content is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after to allow recovery.
Analytics data is retained for 90 days in detail and then summarized or deleted.
Support messages are retained indefinitely unless you ask us to delete them.
4. YOUR CHOICES
We comply with applicable data protection laws. If you live in the EU/UK or a U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to request access to or correction of your personal information. Contact support for access requests.
Full account and data deletion is not currently automated; contact support if you have questions about data retention.
5. INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
Our service is offered to U.S. customers. Account and storage infrastructure is operated internationally. EU/UK users: your data may be processed outside your jurisdiction.
6. CHILDREN
gimmebook is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support.
7. CHANGES
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by bumping the version. Continued use of gimmebook after the update constitutes acceptance.
